Chairman's Message
Welcome to the
ASIS New York
City's 16th
Trade Expo and
Person of the
Year Luncheon.
After experimenting
with a
two day show
in 2005 we
have returned to the one day program
which had previously been so successful
for the chapter. I have been associated
with this chapter for over twenty
years, but it was not until I became
involved in the management of the
Chapter, did I begin to appreciate
what goes into making this and everything
else we do happen. I continue to
be amazed with what this chapter has
accomplished. From the first Trade
Show at the Penta Hotel, to this event,
it is truly a testament to the spirit
and dedication of the volunteers
who devote untold hours to put this
together year after year. It is a process
that begins almost immediately
after the show is over, and continues
through hours of meetings, emails
and phone calls that bring us to this
moment.
We are 1,643 members strong and
continuing to grow. Not only are we
the largest and most successful Chapter
of ASIS in the world, but also the most
generous. Our strength continues to
be the membership, vendors and the
talented members who give of their
experience and time to make this
chapter work.
Even though we are very successful,
the need for new leadership and
volunteers remains our biggest challenge.
We have not been around for
fifty-one years by chance. It is through
constantly re-inventing ourselves
that we have been able to sustain our
success and growth.
If you have not become involved,
have hesitated, or are unsure of what
you can contribute. Think again! The
pay stinks, the hours are long, and
they are never convenient. But fortunately
the benefit of being able to look
back at a successful event like this,
and realizing that you helped make
it happen, is worth all your effort. Seriously, consider volunteering. I
promise, you won't regret it.
Thank you for your continued support.
