David G. Aggleton, CPP, will deliver several presentations at a new two-day seminar, “Security Risk Assessment & Mitigation,” on April 3 and 4 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn. John C. Checco, CISSP, was appointed to the Wall Street Technology Association (WSTA) Advisory committee.

Dr. Elinor Garely earned her doctorate in international business from the University of Sarasota, Florida. She conducted research in Bangkok, Thailand; Miami; and Cape Town, South Africa; for her dissertation, “A Study of Safety and Security at International Luxury and Five-Star Hotels.”

Robert J. Louden, Ph.D., has left John Jay College after 18 years to accept a position as Professor & Program Director, Criminal Justice, at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. (Before that, he retired from the New York Police Department after 21 years of service.) He may be contacted at loudenr@georgian.edu.

Ralph A. Luyando earned his CPI certification in 2005 and began working as a Special Investigator for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. He conducts personnel security investigations for individuals seeking U.S security clearances for positions of national security or public trust.

Michael Stapleton Associates (MSA) announces the creation of MSA Investigations (MSAi), a full-service investigative firm specializing in risk management services and litigation support for financial institutions and legal firms. MSAi conducts due diligence investigations on potential clients, vendors, consultants, brokers and other businesses, providing companies with the information necessary to evaluate risks before entering business relationships.

Nortronics unveiled a new digital monitoring system on January 10, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1199 Plaza/East River Landing. President Al Simon introduced the network based system, which stores camera footage on hard drives. According to Simon, the new system reduces the potential for human and equipment error. Maria Gonzales, vice president and president-in-waiting at Nortronics, also spoke at the ceremony.

Rick Parker has accepted a position as Director of Global Security with Chemtura Corporation, headquartered in Middlebury, Conn. Chemtura is a national critical infrastructure chemical manufacturer with facilities worldwide. Parker is responsible for protecting property and personnel in more than 60 countries,

Allan Schwartz, CPP, CHS-III, President of Safeguards International, Inc. of Yonkers, N.Y., has been made chairman of the Certification Committee for the ASIS International Crisis Management Council. Schwartz serves as the council’s liaison to the ASIS Professional Certification Board. He is a contributing editor to the ASIS Emergency Planning Handbook and was recently nominated to the ASIS Guideline Review Committee.

Santo A. Scribani joins American Building Maintenance of New York (ABM) as Regional Vice President of American Commercial Security Services (ACSS), a subsidiary of ABM Industries Incorporated. Scribani will oversee all activities in the northeast regional branches of ACSS. Primary duties include coordinating security assessments, reviewing existing processes and procedures, managing new business initiatives, and improving client retention.

John Sharp, CPP, Managing Partner of Sharp Global Partners, Ltd., is setting up an office in Washington, D.C., the second for the international supply chain security firm. He will divide his time between Washington and New York. Sharp has also been selected to serve on the ASIS International Transportation Security Council. Thomas Whittles has joined Summit Security Services as Regional Manager for the New Jersey office, based in Union. Whittles will oversee all operations, including recruitment, business development and quality assurance for New Jersey clients. He is past chairman of the North Jersey chapter of ASIS International.
